Yesterday, Today and Amaro Cocktail
So this is yet another great recipe from Brad Thomas Parsons excellent book “Amaro”: Yesterday, Today and Amaro.
Copa de Oro – variation
We asked for tips for more Cynar cocktails and Home Bar Girl came to rescue. Cynar is great to enjoy with only ice and soda but you can do so much more. To blend it with calvados is an excellent idea. On our Cynar road travel we tried to mix it with Aquavit in the Trident cocktail and in… Continue reading Copa de Oro – variation
Eeyore’s Requiem Cocktail
The Eeyore’s Requiem Cocktail features an impressive lineup of ingredients. But in the end this is a Negroni variation where the gin is less dominant, and where rather cynar and fernet branca play the lead role. We added an orange zest twist in the finalized cocktail, making it look even more fancy, and obviously adding a… Continue reading Eeyore’s Requiem Cocktail
Trident cocktail
This recipe we found in one of our essential cocktail books, Bitters – by Brad Thomas Parsons. The bitters used in this recipe are peach bitters, and the author recommends Fee Brothers version. It’s a rather unusual cocktail as it features aquavit, rarely used in cocktails. Another ingredient is hard-to-find cynar, an Italian artichoke liqueur.… Continue reading Trident cocktail
Norwegian Negroni

Tobacco Road
This is the cocktail we originally bought Cynar for and now is the time to try it out. Tobacco Road combines smoky mezcal with herbal cynar and dry sherry. Lately we have come across several cocktails with sherry instead of vermouth. Tobacco Road 1,5 oz Mezcal 1,25 oz Cynar 0,5 oz Fino Sherry 2 dashes… Continue reading Tobacco Road
A bottle of Cynar
We picked up a bottle of Cynar at the government run liquor store today. We became intrigued after reading about it and bought it to make a mezcal cocktail. Cynar, a herbal bitter liqueur infused with thirteen herbs and plants, where one is artichoke (the latin ‘Cynar scolymus’). The aroma made us immediately wanting to taste… Continue reading A bottle of Cynar
