Norwegian Paralysis

When we saw the recipe for the Norwegian Paralysis we knew it was time to premiere our deep-sea-fish-tiki-mug. Had so much fun garnishing the cocktail, pouring water all over the table to make the fish swim (yes we were outside) and to capture the perfect reflection in the water.

We didn’t forget about the cocktail itself though. This tiki drink is from Smuggler’s Cove in San Francisco. We love how they incorporate aquavit in a tiki cocktail, and the truth is it pairs surprisingly well with the pineapple juice. It creates this sweet licorice flavour, which make the drink feel part medicine part candy, all at the same time.

1,5 oz fresh orange juice
1,5 oz pineapple juice
0,5 oz fresh lime juice
0.25 oz simple syrup
0,25 oz orgeat
1,5 oz aquavit (we used Norwegian Linie)
Shake with ice, double strain and pour into a tiki mug. Fill up with crushed ice, and do go crazy with the garnish!

This tiki mug we bought at The Modern Bartender in Vancouver. They stock all things cocktail related, and have a rather big selection of hilarious tiki mugs. We actually had to visit them twice during our week in Vancouver, just to be sure we didn’t miss anything.
