We finally bought a bottle of drambuie and were excited to try it in a cocktail. On the drambuie webpage we found a cocktail called Modern Manners and decided to give it a go. Extra nice was the fact that this recipe also contains kirschwasser, a cherry eau-de-vie, that we happened to buy when in Düsseldorf a few weeks ago. The gin of our choice this time was no 209, a San Francisco distilled gin.
We liked this cocktail. It’s mellow in a nice way. The drambuie has a rather characteristic whiskey flavor, but at the same time a sweetness playing very well with the more stiff gin and kirschwasser. The original recipe uses lime, but we decided to go with lemon to get a cooler color.
The ingredients
0,75 oz drambuie
0,75 oz gin
0,75 oz kirschwasser
0,5 oz lemon juice (lime juice in original recipe)
Shake all ingredients. Potentially garnish with a maraschino cherry.
