San Francisco Treat

We were looking for an after dinner drink and stumbled upon the “San Francisco Treat” from Brad Thomas Parsons’s Amaro bible. In this book there are several contemporary amaro cocktails that inspire you to use your bottles in new ways.

The San Francisco Treat was invented by bar manager Sam Levy at restaurant Meadowood in California. Sam mixes equal parts Fernet-Branca, Averna and vermouth and the result is a complex, not so strong, after dinner drink with licorice tones and some bitterness. The vermouth really works perfect together with the amaros in this one!

1 oz Fernet-Branca

1 oz Averna

1 oz Dolin Blanc vermouth

Flamed orange zest

Mix the three ingredients in a mixing glass and stir with ice. Strain into a chilled glass and garnish with the flamed orange zest.
