Jack With One Eye Cocktail

The Jack With One Eye cocktail might not be the most photogenic in the world, being so brown. But this is a truly delicate drink from Scott McCallum’s & Victoria Walsh’s book Canadian Cocktails. Made with freshly brewed coffee and Canadian whisky, it’s no wonder the cocktail lacks color, but it certainly doesn’t lack taste. Scrappy’s chocolate bitters helps lifting the drink to taste-heaven, as well as the tiny but all so important amounts of Cointreau and Maraschino liqueur. Given the cocktail’s name, the single maraschino cherry decoration is of course obligatory!

What’s in it

1,5 oz Canadian whisky
1 oz cold coffee
0,5 oz Cointreau
1 bar spoon Maraschino liqueur
1 dash of chocolate bitters
Shake with ice, pour into glasses and decorate with a cherry.

We wanted to emphasize the darkness of this cocktail by serving it in black ceramic cups. The maraschino cherry decoration adds even further drama to the finalized cocktail, doesn’t it?
