Vida Fria

lillet rouge, mezcal, suze
Vida Fria presented by Cocktail Detour

So this is Matt’s riff on The Corpse Reviver No 2. Gin is subbed out for mezcal which is what got us hooked on this recipe. And as there’s also Suze in the mix, which we absolutely love, it was a no-brainer to start shaking.

Rinsing a glass with absinthe might seem like a a lot of work for such a small amount of liquor, but do not skip this step – it adds a surprising depth of flavour to the drink.

The first sip om the Vida Fria is a rather bitter experience, but already on the second sip your tastebuds start to adopt and this becomes a cocktail with complex flavors – that makes you wanna go for a third sip, and a fourth, and a fifth, and a sixth . . .

Recipe by Matt – TheAmateurMixologist

Ingredients:

0,75 oz mezcal
0,75 oz Suze
0,75 oz Lillet rouge
0,75 oz fresh lemon juice
absinthe to rinse glass

Mixing:

Start by rinsing a coupe with absinthe. Then shake all other ingredients with fresh ice and strain into the coupe. We also sprayed some absinthe through an open flame on top of the cocktail. Be careful though if doing this.

Glassware:
