Today we mixed a favorite of ours, Sazerac. Simple, but complex with a long history. It was invented in the late 1800s in New Orleans and contained cognac and bitter. Since 2008 the Sazerac is the official cocktail of New Orleans and modern recipes often contain whiskey. It also gets a fantastic red color from Peychauds bitters.
Sazerac
2 oz rye
0,25 oz simple syrup
4 dashes peychauds bitters
1 dash angostura bitters (optional)
absint
lemon peel
Rinse the glas with a splash of absint. Stir the other ingredients over ice and pour in an old-fashioned glass.
