Rhythm and Soul

We found Rhythm and Soul in Kate Simons book Absinthe Cocktails from 2001. A cool book with Absinthe in focus.

The Rythm and Soul was created by Greg Best at Holeman and Finch Public House in Atlanta. In the book it’s described as “a pleasingly bitter Italian Amaro gives this love child of the Sazerac and the Manhattan a life of its own.” And yes we really liked this one!

Rythm and Soul

Leopold Brothers or another absinthe verte to coat the glass

1,5 oz rye whiskey

0,5 oz Averna or another Italian amaro

0,5 oz Carpano Antica or another sweet vermouth

2 dashes angostura bitters

In a rocks glass pour just enough absinthe to coat the inside of the glass. Turn and cover the surface and pour out the excess. Stir the other ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Pour into the absinthe-rinsed glass. Twist a lemon peel over the drink and place it in the glass.
