Bryk – Berlin Cocktail Bar

Bryk Bar Berlin visited by Cocktail Detour by Cocktail Detour

Arriving in Berlin on a rainy and sunny September day we wanted to find a great spot close to our hotel at Alexanderplatz. Waiting for us in the room was a bottle of dry German sparkling wine – a great start of a weekend in Berlin.

After some vegan comfort food at Lia’s Kitchen we were ready for cocktails in Prenzlauer Berg 15 min walk north from Alexanderplatz. The door at Bryk is looked and you need to press the doorbell to be let in. We were apparently early arriving after at quarter to eight and the first guests of the evening.

The bar is big with a back room with additional tables, small lounge chairs, sofas and lounge music gives it almost a hotel lobby feeling. Seated with seltzer glasses and dill flavoured popcorn we couldn’t have a better start browsing the extensive cocktail list. A few classics but most innovative and fun twists.

We started with two crazy choices for the first round

SIR FRANCIS DRAKE IS LOOKING FOR HIS COCONUT BRA…

A rum based cocktail with lemongrass, lime and coconut –  fresh and tropical served in a coconut bra with ice chilling the glass and a coconut rim.

THE GOAT AND THE BANANAS

A scotch cocktail with lemon, honey and banana variations. Banana comes in both a foam as well as banana chips on the side. It is a funny fruity cocktail with different textures and has a discrete smokeless.

For round two we couldn’t resist going for a savoury cocktail and their house specialty smoked gin and tonic.

DER PATE

“Lillet Blanc Parmesan infusion, Genever green olives infusion, Aperol, homemade strawberry – balsamico”. A crazy savory cocktail! Need to try!

CHERRY WOOD

Jinzu Gin, cherry wood, Goldberg Yuzu Tonic. A smoked GT, can a GT get better? Yes smoking great with cherry wood! If you have a “smoke gun” home this is a must try (we have one). Look out for the smoky post soon.

We will most certain revisit Bryk on the next trip to Berlin.  There is a lot of bars in Kollwitzkiez walking distance from Alexanderplatz. We also visited “Fifty Cocktail Heros” and meet @Dustin. We had such a great time we didn’t find the time to take any pictures. Dustin told us about his new cocktail/dining project in Hamburg and we will most certainly visit next year.

We had fun times in Berlin!
