The Black Betty cocktail by Chris Goad contains two amaros. There’s both Fernet-Branca and Montenegro in it. Now Fernet-Branca was one of our first-bought amaros. When we were in Chicago two or three years ago there were ads all over town of this spirit, and we felt almost obliged to buy a bottle. Being lovers of bitters we immediately fell in love with this potent amaro and we did a lot of cocktails during a short period of time using it. Then like only one year ago we saw a video posted by @bartendersatlarge where they visited Amor y Amargo in New York talking about, and tasting, this amaro called Montenegro. Just the bottle itself looked intriguing and we managed to get hold of one (not the easiest thing in Sweden). This bittersweet amaro turned out to be quite phenomenal, and just like with the Fernet-Branca we have used it in many cocktails since.
1 oz dark rum
1 oz amaro Montenegro
1 oz Fernet-Branca
1 oz sherry
Stir all ingredients with ice, strain and pour into rocks glassware.
