We have barrel aged a two liter batch of The Last Word since a few weeks, and now it’s time for a first taste.
What we immediately noticed is how the green colour, from the Chartreuse, has somehow faded a bit. We’ll never find out if the inside of our barrel is now completely green, but nevermind. What’s happened flavour wise is that the sweetness from the Chartreuse and the Maraschino liqueur has somehow decreased a bit, and instead the whole cocktail feels slightly stiffer and boozier. It’s different, but pleasant. We will now leave the rest of the batch in the barrel, and make a revisit in a few more weeks.
If you do not want to make a big batch like we did, below is the one glass recipe. This is one of our favorite cocktails of all time, so we can wholeheartedly recommend you to try it.
