When the team behind Porter’s gin kindly asked us to try out their gin we knew we wanted to use it in a long drink. Being a citrus driven gin, pairing it with fruit flavors such us elderflower and cherry was also an easy decision.
So when we found this recipe in Imbibe Magazine we knew it was a great fit for the Porter’s gin. Before starting to mix we tried the gin neat, and it is as gorgeous as expected. The lemon is there, but it’s also bursting with botanicals such as juniper, cinnamon, pink peppercorn and the peculiar buddha’s hand.
This is a gin we will use a lot in our cocktailing going forward. Next challenge is to to find the perfect coupe cocktail to use it in…

Recipe by Alan Walter
Ingredients:
1 oz gin
1 oz elderflower liqueur
0,5 oz Galliano
0,5 oz fresh lemon juice
0,33 oz Maraschino liqueur
2 drops grapefruit bitters
club soda to top up with
Mixing:
Shake all ingredients but the club soda with ice and fine strain into a collins glass. Add ice cubes and top up with the club soda. An oregano sprig and a grapefruit peel are the recommended garnishes. We went a bit more crazy and used an emptied mangosteen which we filled with herbs and lemon zest.
Glassware:
