Kind of an inverted dry martini, the Astoria cocktail favors vermouth over gin, which in a way means the small amount of gin has to really shine to stand up to all that vermouth. Here we got the opportunity to try out Danish Tranquebar Colonial gin, which was a perfect match in this drink.
And just as we poured the cocktail and were ready to photograph it, we realized we were out of green olives. What to do….well we decided to garnish with black olives instead. Is that very wrong you think?
