Almond Brother

These are two Almond Brothers by Jason Littrell from bar Death & Co. It’s a recipe that combines Mexican tequila with Italian Amaretto in a playful way. But can these two spirits really be brothers?

2 oz reposado tequila
0,25 oz Amaretto
1 teaspoon apricot liqueur
0,75 oz lime juice
0,25 oz orgeat
0,25 oz maple syrup
Shake with fresh ice, strain into fancy glasses.

Well yes, one could believe so. They work very well together, despite both being quite characteristic on their own. The amount of Amaretto might be smaller than the amount of tequila, but you still definitely notice the almond notes. Hence the name of the cocktail is not misleading whatsoever.

Favorite sweetener ingredients maple syrup and orgeat are also in the mix. These contribute to making the cocktail fairly sweet, but not in a sugary way but rather in a more interesting yet subtle way.
