This is the “Vieux Carré” made of rye, Cognac, sweet vermouth, Bénédictine and bitters. It’s one of those classic cocktails that many have tried or heard of, but it’s still a very interesting and tempting drink.
It gets a dark rich color from the sweet vermouth and the Peychaud’s bitters, so contrasting with a yellow lemon twist and a big piece of ice is nice when serving.
What’s in it
1 oz rye
1 oz Cognac
1 oz Antica Formula sweet vermouth
0,25 oz Bénédictine
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
2 dashes Angostura bitters
